The Magic of the Sea.
The waters of Mexico are home to many treasures. Divers
can enjoy such delights as the Mayan Coral Reef, the
second longest reef in the world, off of Cozumel. Water
visibility here is 200 feet and there are more than
200 species of tropical fish. The Yucatan Peninsula
region has more than 37 miles of subterranean tunnels
where divers can discover underground rivers, sinkholes
and caverns. For those daring enough, and experianced
enough, the Cave of the Sleeping Sharks lies at depth
of 60 feet off the coast of Isla Mujares, less than
a half hour boat ride from Cancun.
For those who prefer to admire the sea's wonders off
of Los Cabos and the Baja Peninsula are wonderful for
whale-watching boat excursions during the winter months.
A boat ride around Puerto Vallarta's Bahia Banderas,
the second largest natural bay in North America, might
give you a chance to see dolphins, turtles and humpback
whales. The bay also boasts more than 100 miles of coastline
for those who like to watch the water from a beautiful
beach. Watersports, such as sailing, fishing and jet
skiing are other popular activities.
The Golf and Spa Life
Mexico is home to some of the world's top spas. In resorts,
haciendas and specialized beauty and health centers
throughout the country, spas feature a wide variety
of luxurious services as well as unique treatments based
on traditional, pre-colonization practices and beliefs.
The temazcal steam bath, for example, uses medicinal
plants and herbs to treat muscular and certain emotional
problems.
There is no shortage of golf courses in Mexico either.
Designers such as Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones,
Jr. and Lee Trevino take advantage of Mexico's sweeping
ocean vistas and rugged desert terrain to build truly
unique courses. The Senior PGA Tour, Tour of the Americas,
Canadian Tour and EMC-World Cup are just some of the
world-class golf events that have chosen Mexico as their
host site.
There is no doubt about it, Mexico is becoming one of
the hottest new golf destinations in the world.
